From guilt to growth

If you’re a mum in business, the story this week’s guest on Girls Around Town will be sharing could well be one you’ll want to hear…

And maybe even one that rings a few bells with you too!

A psychotherapist and the founder of Mind Peace, mother of two Mina Ahmed runs her business from home and, since November 2018, has been on a mission to support hundreds of other mums after her own challenges during her postnatal depression, her past traumas and a challenged relationship with her parents had left her lost, lonely and in a very dark place.

Mina will be live in the studio in the second hour of the show, joining June to explain how, since launching Mind Peace four years ago, she’s completed no fewer than 80,000 hours of workshops, public speaking, research and client work around stress, anxiety and trauma emotions.

She’ll have news of her first self-development help book, following the journeys of three mothers in business challenged with mum-guilt and sharing their breakthroughs as she worked with each one of them to transform them from guilt to growth

And of the brand new eight-week group programme she’ll be launching in just over a couple of weeks’ time to help others do exactly that too!

To hear Mina’s story, the stories of some of the mums she’s worked with and how and where you can find out more, don’t forget to Put On Your Sunday Best on 107.8FM, on the apps, on Alexa or online from just after 11am this weekend.

And make sure you’re listening to the show from 10am for all the latest updates of what’s going on in and around Newark over the coming weeks as well…

Food for thought

How many times have you heard or read the words ‘you are what eat‘?

Believe it or not, that saying goes all the way back to 1826 when Anthelme Brillat-Savarin, a French lawyer, politician and writer who gained fame as a gastronome, wrote “Tell me what you eat and I will tell you what you are”…

But what about how, when, where and why you eat what you do?

One woman who knows all about the importance of mindset when it comes to nutrition is Alison Harris, who’ll be joining June in the studio this weekend to tell her own story and describe some of the ways in which she empowers people to be at their best by helping them reconnect with nourishing.

“Of course we look at healthy eating and I encourage clients to eat cleanly, with more vegetables, less processed food and, where possible, to choose local and seasonal produce” she says.

“But it’s my belief that without looking at why we eat what we do, we’ll just go back to old habits. And it’s this mindfulness that is at the core of the work I do.”

Alison will be talking about how she brings her skills and experience of NLP, coaching and nutrition into the workshops, talks and one-to-one training she offers.

And she’ll also be busting one or two myths about eating healthily being too expensive or time-consuming…

Taking control of your hormones

A hot topic – in more ways than one! – on the agenda for this week’s show when Pamela Windle joins Rosalyn and June in the studio to describe how she guides clients through the perimenopause and menopause, helping them recreate lasting hormonal balance.

“Think of me as the sister you’ve never had but with the added bonus of women’s health and hynotherapy certifications!” says Pamela.

“Being a woman, a partner and a mother, I understand very well the challenges you might be facing right now in your life. I’ve faced plenty of health challenges of my own and helped hundreds of women feel happier, healthier and stronger so they can start living life on THEIR terms, instead of being a victim of their bodies.”

Tune in or listen online between 10am and 12 noon on Sunday to hear Pamela sharing her own story with the Girls Around Town.  She’ll be talking too about some of the common symptoms and solutions, her thoughts on HRT and what she means when she says ‘Your hormones are more than a reflection of your fertility’.

Do you want to take control of your hormonal happiness, to feel amazing? Then you’ll want to hear what she has to say…
