New fun-filled classes for kids now open in Newark

Two more first-time guests on this week’s Girls Around Town

When June will be welcoming Harry and Megan Hindley onto the show to tell her – and you – all about bringing Copper Studios to Newark!

A Performing Arts Academy for students aged two to 18 offering training in acting, singing and dance, their Nottingham studio opened its doors four years ago, although they’d been running classes in various venues across the city since September 2015.

Fast forward to October 2022 – those classes can now be enjoyed by youngsters living in and around Newark…

And Harry and Megan will be live on air from just after 11am with details of what those kids will find when they join in the fun at the new studios over on Slaughterhouse Lane.

They’ll be looking back at some of the highlights of the last few years and looking ahead to what’s in store for the near future, when some of their 300-plus members will be sharing that fun as they take to the stage to showcase their different skills.

Make sure you Put On Your Sunday Best this weekend, on 107.8FM, on the apps, on Alexa or online, to hear what they do and why they do it…

And how and where to find out more, especially if you’ve got youngsters who might want to develop existing artistic skills or even learn some new ones right here in Newark!

Finding a fresh perspective on the game of life

There’s a definite wellbeing buzz here on Girls Around Town this month, with Claire Clements and Louise Hallam in the studio earlier today talking about blissful balance and Alison Harris offering hints and tips for healthy eating habits in two weeks’ time.

Completing the trifecta, Sunita Passi will be joining June next Sunday to share details of an upcoming event in Nottingham and a brand new centre she’s just opened in the beautiful Vale of Belvoir, both of which focus on different aspects of – yes, you guessed it – wellness…

From 7.15pm to 10.45pm on Friday 11 October, she’ll be hosting Create Your Future, a lively exploration of authenticity and how to be more of yourself, whatever form that takes in your life.

During the evening Jamie Catto, whose hit career with Faithless is matched by his enthusiastic approach to spirituality and relationships, will be sharing some of his adventures and what they’ve taught him.

Jamie’s workshops attract people from far afield and, for this one, he’ll be joined by other health and business experts in a panel discussion and Q&A session designed to help participants look forward to a fresh perspective on the game of life.

There’ll be news from Sunita too about her Wellness Centre, now up and running at The Engine Yard following its launch and open day on Sunday 11 August.

In a tranquil spot close to Belvoir Castle, the centre is a place where you can unplug from the world and enjoy a range of classes and treatments with some of the region’s most skilful therapists, from ayurvedic massages, facials and body scrubs to yoga, meditation and more…

Tune in to 107.8FM or listen online between 10am and 12 noon to find out how to take care of your mind, body and emotions through these natural processes of healing.

And how, with a little help from Jamie, you can discover ways to make more of yourself and your life.

Whatever it is we do, we owe it to ourselves to be the best we can be. One blissful consequence is that allows us to support others to do the same – the effects of self-care ripple through everything we do – Sunita Passi

Balancing act

Three months ago, Claire Clements joined the Girls Around Town with details of the Positively Empowering Kids Festival, a brand new event which took place at Nottingham Racecourse at the end of June.

This weekend she’ll be back in the studio to talk about some of the highlights of the day and remind listeners of the other ways she helps youngsters build their confidence and self-esteem by encouraging them to put on their Positive Pants.

But it’s not just about kids this time, because Louise Hallam of Still Calm will be with her and the main focus of their chat with June will be on the grown ups…

With several strings to her bow, Claire knows all about the importance of balance and she’ll be describing how, using visualisation techniques, meditation and creativity, she can help you, your staff and your business become the best they can.

Techniques that, earlier this week, she shared with members of the Nottinghamshire WiRE networking group here in Newark, giving them an insight into what Blissful Balance means to her and to those who take part in the wellbeing and empowerment activities she organises.

Claire and Louise will have news too of another upcoming event, when they’ll be joining forces with Donna Smith and Amy Huskisson to present Wellbeing in Nottingham at Jury’s Inn on Monday 30 September.

Tune in to 107.8FM or listen online between 10am and 12 noon on Sunday to find out what’s in store for this one, how Claire and Louise achieve their own blissful balance and how, with their help, you could achieve yours too!
