A weekend of colour and inspiration

It’s pretty damp and dismal outdoors right now and no doubt it’s going to get worse before it gets better.

So why not take your mind off the wintry weather ahead and start planning a few days out during spring and summer?

One of the events that’s sure to be high on many lists is the Belvoir Castle Flower & Garden Show

A weekend of colour and inspiration for those with a love of gardening which makes a welcome return to Leicestershire on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 July.

Organiser Andy Tudbury will be making a welcome return too when he joins June in the studio this Sunday with a quick update on how things went at the 2021 event and – more importantly – what’s already on the cards for 2022.

Whether you’re looking for inspiration from the stunning show gardens and borders, the chance to buy something special for your own garden or need help from the expert horticulturalists in the Let’s Talk area, you’ll find all this and more in the beautiful setting of Belvoir Castle.

No day out would be complete without food and drink of course and you’ll find plenty of both to enjoy while you relax and listen to some of the artists performing on the music stage.

Make sure you’re tuned to 107.8FM or listening online, on the apps or on Alexa from 11.10am on Sunday morning to hear what Andy has to say…

And to find out how to book your Early Bird tickets for this family-friendly day out in July!

A place to breathe and grow for a new way of living

Are you ready to welcome the first guest of 2022 to Girls Around Town?

Make sure you Put On Your Sunday Best this weekend to do just that, when Wendy Baird joins June live in the studio in the second hour of the show to get the new year off to a great start!

If you’re a regular listener, you’ll no doubt recognise the name and remember previous on air chats when Wendy’s been talking about the amazing work done by the team at Carriages Café in support of the local community in and around Newark, particularly over the past two difficult years.

But did you know she’s recently branched out – quite literally!! – and launched a brand new business here in town?

Perhaps you’ve already heard the news – maybe you’ve even visited TREE yourself in the last couple of months…

But if you haven’t, here’s your chance to find out more from Wendy herself, who’ll be explaining why and how she and her daughter Abigail have joined forces to turn one of Newark’s town centre spots into a place to refuel, re-energise, learn and relax.

From healthy food and drinks to wellbeing workshops and holistic therapies, they offer all these and more, so why not take a leaf out of TREE‘s book this Sunday?

Sit back and relax as you tune in to 107.8FM or listen on the apps, on Alexa or online from just after 11.10am

And learn all about this place to breathe and grow for a new way of living.

Building better, brighter futures

If you were listening to Girls Around Town last month, you’ll have heard June talking about local charity Framework and its current campaign to raise £160,000 to help the people it supports.

Since 2021 Framework has helped tens of thousands of people change the direction of their lives, empowering them to overcome issues of homelessness, addiction, mental ill-health and unemployment…

And this weekend, its fundraising and communications manager Claire Eden will be in the studio to tell listeners how it does just that.

Claire will have an update on the current campaign, talking about how the Big Sleep Out went and sharing information about other events taking place right now to help reach that target, together with details of some of the things she and her colleagues are planning for 2022.

Make sure you’re listening on 107.8FM, on the apps or online from just after 11.10am on Sunday to hear what she has to say…

And, of course, to find out how you can get involved and support their aim of helping those in need across Nottinghamshire overcome the problems of their past and build better, brighter futures.
