It’s show time!

Back in 2018, Andy Tudbury joined the Girls Around Town to talk about a brand new event he was bringing to one of the best-known venues in the region.

Set in the stunning grounds of Belvoir Castle, the first Belvoir Castle Flower and Garden Show took place in July that year, bringing together a range of show gardens from award-winning designers, a host of well-known nursery and floral exhibitors in the grand Lakeside Pavilion, a Gardeners’ Question Time panel and an educational area.

One year later, almost to the day, the festival was back bigger and better than before and until a few months ago Andy was busy preparing for more of the same this July.

Needless to say, that wasn’t to be under the current circumstances but Andy’s back with some good news when he joins June by phone this weekend – the show will go on in just a few weeks’ time…

Tune in to 107.8FM or listen online from 11.20am on Sunday to find out what Andy has to say about what’s on the programme for this year’s show, now taking place on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 September, and how to pre-book tickets to the event.

Make sure you stay tuned in till the end of the chat too because he’ll be sharing some exclusive news about 2021 – you’ll hear it first here on Girls Around Town!

Gardener’s question time

No, that’s not an error in the headline – if there’s one thing June is very picky about, it’s putting her apostrophes in the right place!!

The gardener in question – and being questioned on next Sunday‘s show – is Andy Tudbury, joining the Girls Around Town in the studio with a report on the first Belvoir Flower and Garden Festival last summer.

And, more importantly, with the latest news of this year’s festival in the stunning setting of Belvoir Castle on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 July

Landscape gardener Andy will be chatting to June and Rachel about some of the highlights of 2018, sharing some of the feedback from exhibitors and visitors to the show and describing how, with the help of a team of experts, he’s aiming make the next one even better.

Tune in or listen online in the second hour of next week’s show to find out what’s in store for July, how and where to book tickets and how, if you get in quick, you’ll be able to take advantage of an Early Bird offer which will be announced soon.

Two for the price of one

Listen to the show next weekend and get two for the price of one when guests Andy Tudbury and Paula Drakeford join the Girls Around Town in the studio…

First up it’s Andy, organiser of The Belvoir Flower and Garden Festival which takes place on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 July.

Set in the castle’s stunning grounds, this brand new event brings together a range of show gardens from award-winning designers, a host of well-known nursery and floral exhibitors in the grand Lakeside Pavilion, a Gardeners’ Question Time panel and an educational area.

With a varied programme of live music from local performers in the Music Zone, everything from Prosecco and quality coffee to artisan cakes and burgers from a master butcher in the Nourish Zone and a wide range of trade stands brimming with garden products, sculptures and gifts, it’s guaranteed to be a great day out for all the family filled with floral inspiration and gardening ideas to take home.

In the second hour of the show, zumba and yoga teacher Paula Drakeford takes centre stage to talk about the classes she runs in the beautiful Ballroom of Upton Hall.

She’ll be explaining some of the benefits of the sessions – from building confidence and releasing stress to improving stamina and gaining fitness – with a little help from Helen Law, who’ll be sharing her own reasons for joining both classes and just what she’s gained from them.

Whether you’re thinking of trying zumba or yoga – or both! – this is your chance to find out what to expect from each of them. There’ll be advance details too of a new and unique dance class Paula will be bringing to Upton soon –  if you’ve always wanted the confidence to strut out in style, Strutology could be just what you’ve been waiting for…

Tune in or listen online when June and Rachel strut their own stuff from 10am to 12 noon  next Sunday
