Networking – the new normal

Do you rely on networking to build your business? And have you been struggling to succeed during these strange times?

Next weekend’s guest on Girls Around Town is here to help!

Publisher, author and motivational speaker Ladey Adey joins June on the phone in the second hour of the show to talk about how online networking has saved many businesses.

And how her latest book, Successful Business Networking Online, could help do the same for yours…

“Lockdown has changed business networking forever – no one could have predicted this new normal,” she says. “But this swift transformation has created huge opportunities for those smart enough to exploit them fully.”

Alongside over 100 interviews with super-successful business owners and seasoned networkers, the book unlocks critical secrets to guide you through the principles that will help you

  • Become successful using online networking post Covid-19
  • Discover the strategies needed to guarantee your professional success
  • Understand the difference between online and in-person networking – and it’s not just technology!

Tune in to 107.8FM or listen online from 11.20am  to hear what Ladey has to say – and make sure you join June from 10am to catch all the usual gossip and good music on your favourite Sunday morning show!

Sunday – best day of the week once more!

At last, the news you’ve all been waiting for – Newark‘s favourite show by, for and about women will be back on 107.8FM and online soon!

There’ll be a few small changes to the format, in line with government guidance about safety and social distancing, but rest assured June, Rosalyn, Rachel and Claire will still be going all out to keep you informed and entertained between 10am and 12 noon every Sunday morning…

Kicking things off on Sunday 12 July, June will be in the studio catching up with fellow presenter Ros by phone in the first hour.

Then in the second hour, it’s time for Wendy Baird from Carriages to give her a call and talk about the fantastic work the team at the Newark café has been doing recently.

Believe it or not, over the last few months literally hundreds of meals have made their way to the homes of Newark residents, many of whom would have normally visited Carriages every Wednesday evening for the Community Café

Make sure you’re listening from 11.20am to find out from Wendy how, with the help of local businesses and lots of willing volunteers, those meals just kept on coming – and will continue to do so.

There’ll be plenty of good music throughout the show too and news of some of the other guests already lined up for the next few weeks…

When lockdown began at the end of March, the Girls Around Town told you they’d be back as soon as possible and finally they’re ready to make good on their promise!

Bringing artists into view

Their studios may be closed to the public right now but artists across Nottinghamshire will still be welcoming ‘visitors’ throughout May and June, thanks to a special initiative designed to bring Open Studios 2020 to the county ‘virtually’.

“Of course it is no longer possible to run Open Studios in its usual format this year,” said Michael Trueman, co-ordinator of the initiative. “However, the creative community is the best at keeping morale high when times are rough, not only for the wider public but for ourselves too.

“Hence we have decided to use the online and digital opportunities available to continue to fulfil our mission of ‘bringing artists into view’.”

OS Notts will be sharing virtual studio tours and videos of artists’ work in progress on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter and on a dedicated YouTube channel. There will also be opportunities to meet participating artists on social media and a new Meet the Artist section on the OS website.

Linked photographic exhibitions showing artists and makers at work that would normally be held in libraries across the county courtesy of  Inspire: Culture, Learning and Libraries will also take place online.

Links to the exhibition, which launches on Friday 24 April, will be posted on social media and on the OS website. For the third year running, the photographs have been taken by Neil Pledger and curated by Lucianna Gallucci.

And don’t forget to keep an eye on the Girls Around Town social media feeds for regular updates about this year’s Open Studios…
