Staycation or vacation?

As travel restrictions to some destinations gradually begin to ease, have you already started thinking about booking a holiday to make up for one that was cancelled earlier this year?

Earlier in the show, co-presenter Claire will be on the phone to June too, chatting about what she’s been up to since she was last in the studio back in February and no doubt sharing one or two of the WOWs she’s had over the last few weeks.

Sunday – best day of the week once more!

At last, the news you’ve all been waiting for – Newark‘s favourite show by, for and about women will be back on 107.8FM and online soon!

There’ll be a few small changes to the format, in line with government guidance about safety and social distancing, but rest assured June, Rosalyn, Rachel and Claire will still be going all out to keep you informed and entertained between 10am and 12 noon every Sunday morning…

Kicking things off on Sunday 12 July, June will be in the studio catching up with fellow presenter Ros by phone in the first hour.

Then in the second hour, it’s time for Wendy Baird from Carriages to give her a call and talk about the fantastic work the team at the Newark café has been doing recently.

Believe it or not, over the last few months literally hundreds of meals have made their way to the homes of Newark residents, many of whom would have normally visited Carriages every Wednesday evening for the Community Café…

Make sure you’re listening from 11.20am to find out from Wendy how, with the help of local businesses and lots of willing volunteers, those meals just kept on coming – and will continue to do so.

There’ll be plenty of good music throughout the show too and news of some of the other guests already lined up for the next few weeks…

When lockdown began at the end of March, the Girls Around Town told you they’d be back as soon as possible and finally they’re ready to make good on their promise!

Do you fancy your chances of being crowned Newark‘s new Star Baker next month?

Have you got the skills – and the chocolate! – to walk away with the title when Newark Does Bake Off returns to Ann et Vin on Sunday 19 April?

Whether you want to bring along your best bake or just your appetite, find out more on next weekend’s show when Ann Hayes joins the Girls Around Town to talk about what’s in store,

Entries will be judged in three different categories – best decorated one-tier cake, best children’s bake (open to under 16s) and of course best chocolate cake – and whether you’re planning on being a baker or a taster, tickets are just £10 each.

Doors open at 12 noon for entrants to set up and the all-important judging, then the equally important tasting will get under way at 1pm.

With all the proceeds from the event going to the Stand Up For Cancer campaign, it’s the perfect opportunity to help raise funds for this much-loved charity while enjoying a bit of Sunday afternoon fun – what’s not to like about that?

Tune in to 107.8FM or listen online from 10am to 12 noon next Sunday when Ann will be sharing all the details with June and Claire.
