Change your change!

change your change - cropIt’s a hot topic – in more ways than one! – among women over 40 so it’s hardly surprising that the Girls Around Town will be turning the spotlight on the menopause as part of their new Fabulous After 40 series of interviews.

One of the guests lined up to take part in the discussions is complementary therapist Sue Mcfarlane. Watch this space for details of other guests involved and when they’ll be in the studio but, in the meantime, here’s news of an event coming up that could answer some of your questions and concerns.

On Saturday 27 February, Sue will be joining forces with mind coach and hypnotherapist Louise Page to present a two-hour holistic health workshop aimed at helping you to cope with the physical and emotional symptoms of menopause.

“You don’t need to be in the change for this to be relevant,” says Sue. “It’s never, ever too early to prepare.”

The workshop takes place from 10am to 12 noon at Earthchild, 67 Long Acre, Bingham NG13 8AG. Places are £15 each and strictly limited so advance booking is essential.

For more details and to reserve your place, call Sue on 07766 592025 or Earthchild on 01949 876062.

Take hold – the offer expires at midnight…

midnightMeet the Girls Around Town‘s first Fabulous After 40 guest on Sunday 31 January and find out how Ann Hobbs is living life to the full with her take on the well-known maxim, carpe diem

“Every day is new and so are the opportunities, so take hold – the offer expires at midnight,” says Ann, who joins June and Tina in the studio to talk about gaining an MBA, going on a study tour of UN mine-clearing posts and refugee camps in Syria and Jordan, buying a house in France unseen and writing a children’s book.

Not to mention how a chance encounter with a man changing a flat tyre in a car park led to wedding bells…

“Did my life change in my forties? You bet it did and it continues to do so,” Ann says. To find out more about how she found her fabulous, tune in or listen online from 10am to 12 noon  – there’s an amusing tale in there too, about a rather strangely located loo!!

Fabulous after 40

it's not the yearsWho says women can’t be fabulous – personally, professionally or both – once they’ve passed the two-score mark? That they should just accept the fact that the best is well and truly behind them and give in gracefully to a life less visible?

There IS life after 40 – and even after 50 or 60! – and if you need proof, then just consider this…

Tina was in her 40s when she discovered an exciting new outlet for her creativity in BeLOVEd – Sue was in her 40s too, when she not only started a new career in IT but also first found her radio voice – and June was on the wrong side of 50 when she decided to take up weight training and she’s still going strong!

But they’re not alone in breaking new ground at a time when they’ve become what the French so charmingly call femmes d’un certain age – a much nicer description than middle-aged or even worse, don’t you think?

On the show, in networking groups or just out and about, the Girls Around Town have met a steady stream of kindred souls who prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that it’s not the YEARS in your life that count, it’s the LIFE in your years

fabulous at 40And now they’re on a mission to find and feature even more local ladies who’ve shown that it really is never too late to take on new challenges.

Have you found your fabulous after 40? Or perhaps you know someone who has?

Whether it’s a major lifestyle change, a completely new career or a hobby you’d never considered before, the Girls Around Town want to hear from you and share your stories with their listeners.

Getting in touch couldn’t be easier – just follow this link and choose the way that’s best for you. June, Tina or Sue will get back to you right away and you – or the friend or family member you’ve suggested – could be joining them in the studio one Sunday morning soon…
