Wake up to sleep!

If you snooze, you lose – right?

Wrong!! According to The Sleep Council at least, whose website is all about the importance of a good night’s kip and how it not only makes you healthier and happier but can even add years to your life…

A key element of course is having the right bed and, with next Sunday just a week into National Bed Month, you probably won’t be surprised to learn that’s precisely what June and guest Rosalyn Palmer will be chatting about in the second hour of the show.

Ros will be on the phone to the studio from just after 11.10am to share some of her own thoughts and expert advice about good sleeping habits, while June will be offering up a few statistics she’s come across recently…

Did you know, for example, that Cambridge, Brighton and Manchester top the list of the worst places in the UK to get a good night’s sleep?

Or that nodding off in your socks can increase the amount of REM sleep you get through the night, helping you remember things and process your emotions?!

Make sure you’re tuned in to 107.8FM or listening online from 10am to 12 noon for all this and more from June and Ros…

Sit back and relax – but whatever you do, don’t doze off or you’ll miss your favourite Sunday morning show, Girls Around Town!

Turn your FOMO to JOMO

Are your social media feeds an endless stream of posts and pictures from folk apparently having the best time ever right now?

Does everyone else seem to be getting through tough times with ease and succeeding against all odds, leaving you feeling anxious and somehow lacking?

Then it’s time for another dose of SANITY ON SUNDAY from the Girls Around Town‘s wellbeing expert Rosalyn Palmer, who’ll be chatting with June  during the second hour of this week’s show…

She’ll be on the phone to the studio from just after 11am to explain why you need to turn that Fear Of Missing Out to Joy Of Missing Out and, even more importantly, how to do it!

“We’re all programmed to think that by missing out we are flawed. It goes way back to our old cavemen thinking and need for connection, as the tribe only survived together. Hardwired to fear separation, we now fear missing out and fail to embrace the joy of being happy in our own company,” says Ros, who’ll be sharing her antidote which, appropriately, spells JOMO.

  • Just say no! It gives you choices and boundaries and stops you from burnout.
  • Own the moment.  If you’re having a bad day, then be easy on yourself and remind yourself that this too shall pass.
  • Make what is right for you a priority.
  • Only check social media, emails, voicemails and the news when you have to. Instead, do what you love.

To discover how to become the best version of you, filled with the joy of finding more by missing out, make sure you’re tuned in to 107.8FM or listening online between 10am and 12 noon.

Because if there’s one thing you don’t want to miss out on, it’s your favourite Sunday morning show!!

Kids’ stuff

It’s all about kids on Girls Around Town this weekend…

Not June‘s specialist subject by any stretch of the imagination but luckily she knows a few local ladies who are definitely experts in this field!

Joining her on the phone in the second hour of the show is the co-owner of one of Newark‘s newest small businesses, Cate Martin from BeanBlock Café.

There’s  no shortage of great independent coffee shops in the town, of course, but if you’re a mum (or even a dad!) you’ll definitely want to hear what she has to say about the range of children’s activities hers has to offer.

And how giving Buggy Buddies a go? A chance to get out of the house and meet other mums while enjoying a socially-distanced walk, this regular event could be just what you’re looking for too.

Make sure you’re listening in from 11.20am on Sunday to catch what Cate has to say – and don’t miss the first hour of the show either, because there’s more specially for parents then.

June will be sharing all the details of Claire‘s latest course, Back to School – Positively! – which runs from Monday 24 to Friday 28 August.

Whether your children are looking forward to returning, have some slight niggles or are full-on hating the idea of being separated from you, this course will help them to see the benefits of school and give them some coping mechanisms for if they wobble.

Tune in to 107.8FM or listen online between 10am and 12 noon for all this and more on the show that brings you the very best local news, views and interviews every Sunday morning.
