Fancy being a DJ on your favourite local radio station?

Do you love music, love local and fancy yourself as a radio presenter?

Radio Newark – the home of Your Sunday Best of course! – is looking for new voices to join its team and one of them could be YOURS!!

Licensed by Ofcom and run by a dedicated team of volunteers, the station has been serving Newark and Sherwood with feel good music and local information since 2015 from state of the art digital studios at Barnby Road Academy.

It can be heard in Newark and nearby villages on 107.8 FM and elsewhere on Alexa, on its free phone apps or online here.

As a local radio station, it’s important that presenters have strong links with Newark and Sherwood so ideally you’ll live or work in the area or have previously lived or worked here.

Don’t worry if you’ve no previous experience – you’ll be given all the support and guidance you need – just follow this link to find out how to apply, get your applications in by Saturday 31 July and one of the team will contact you..

And if  you don’t want to be a presenter but would like to offer behind the scenes help, the good news is that Radio Newark is on the lookout for support in other areas too…

So if you have administrative and organisational skills, a leaning towards IT and technical or something else to offer, do please get in touch.

Back together again

Back in November 2017 Tina Bettison and Sue Jackson stepped away from the microphones, leaving June with the unenviable task of finding two new co- presenters to fill their shoes.

Fortunately Rachel, Rosalyn and, most recently, Claire were all more than happy to do just that and, after a brief sabbatical, Girls Around Town returned to the airwaves in March 2018

Although Tina’s been in the studio on the other side of the desk at least twice since then, next weekend will see all three friends re-united for the first time when both she and Sue drop by for a catch up.

And Ros will be joining the party too!

They’ll be reminiscing about the old days – remember all those Chocolate Moments, not to mention that valuable advice on how to choose the right shade of lippy? – before bringing June and Ros up to date on what’s been keeping them busy over the last two years.

From the brand new cookery school Sue’s about to launch to Tina’s return to her love of writing and photography, they’ll have no shortage of news to share.

So it’s probably just as well that virtually the whole of next week’s show has been set aside for them to do so!

Tune in to 107.8FM or listen online from 10am to 12 noon next Sunday to join the reunion – who knows, chocolate might even make a comeback too…

Say hello to the new girl in town!

Cast your mind back to early last month and you may remember Claire Clements popping into the studio to talk about how she helps clients achieve Blissful Balance in their lives.

Or even further back to the beginning of June, when she made her first appearance on the show to talk about the  power of Positive Pants

Guests on Girls Around Town invariably say how much they enjoy spending their Sunday mornings with June Rachel and Rosalyn but Claire went one step further and, to everyone’s delight, offered to get involved on a regular basis.

So meet the new girl in town – from next month, she’s joining the team as a regular guest presenter!

Claire will be making her debut in November, sharing some of her own thoughts on the topics of the day and giving June a helping hand when they talk to guest Amanda Stone about Christmas-themed events and workshops at Hanwell Estates.

Dates are already in the diary for her to be back in December and January and hopefully they’ll be just the first of many.

But for now, make sure you tune in to 107.8FM or listen online between 10am and 12 noon on Sunday 10 November to hear her make that debut.

And, in the meantime, find out more about Claire here
