Picture perfect

It’s an oft-used saying and one that applies to lots of different situations…

But You’ll never get a second chance to make a first impression definitely fits the bill when it comes to online dating!

There’s no doubt that people giving those apps a go usually make up their mind in a split second so it’s important to catch their eye and make sure that first impression really is a good one…

And that’s just one of the things that photographer Gemma Wilks, this week’s guest on Girls Around Town, sets out to do for clients.

Gemma will be in the studio with June in the second hour of the show to explain how she’s on a mission to abolish those bathroom selfies, replacing them with eye-catching photos and dating profiles that stop singles in their scroll.

Online dating isn’t for everyone of course, which is why she also hosts regular Single and Mingle evenings in Nottingham where guests can meet up over a drink and a bite to eat in the old-fashioned way.

And that’s not all – inspired by Channel 4’s First Dates, she’s just launched Table For Two which matches suitable couples over a delicious meal…

The only difference being there’s no TV crew present and of course no Fred Sirieix greeting guests on their arrival at the restaurant!

Make sure you Put On Your Sunday Best on 107.8FM, on the apps or online to hear what Gemma has to say from just after 11am this weekend…

When no doubt she and June will have plenty to share about their own first dates too, both successful and otherwise!!

Keeping your kids safe online

Did you know that as many as 130,000 new apps are currently being released every month…

And, with lots of them becoming popular at dizzying speed, it’s getting more and more difficult to keep track of what kids are up to on their tablets and phones?

If you’re a parent anxious to keep your youngsters safe online, you’ll want to hear what wellbeing guru Rosalyn Palmer has to say when she joins June live in the studio in the second hour of this week’s Girls Around Town.

Ros will be asking the question Is your child addicted to technology? and, if you suspect that might be the case, offering her advice on what you can do about it.

She’ll have news too of the free masterclass she ran at the end of April, in which she asked participants whether it’s time to listen to a better voice and how, even if they’re able to shut out much of the external chatter, what they need to do if they’re struggling to silence the nagging inner voices too.

Make sure you Put On Your Sunday Best from 10am to 12 noon this weekend by tuning in to 107.8FM or listening on the apps, on Alexa or online to hear what Ros has to say from just after 11am

No doubt she’ll have an update on life on the farm in Lincolnshire too when she pops across to Newark for her latest catch up with June!

Life in the fast lane with Coach Cath

From business coaching and social media courses to publishing her first book – if you’re a regular listener to Girls Around Town, you’ll know that this week’s guest is definitely a woman who achieves everything she sets out to do…

And right now it looks as though Cath Babbington could be about to be officially recognised for doing exactly that!

Nominated recently for this year’s Woman Who Achieves Awards, Coach Cath as she’s known to her clients will be back in the studio in the second hour on Sunday to tell June – and you – all about it and just what it means to her to be in the running for such a prestigious award.

With two new projects in the pipeline as well – her first journal and a brand new business to boot – it’s a wonder she’s able to find the time to pop over to Radio Newark for another on-air chat.

But, in the words of Benjamin Franklin, if you want something done, ask a busy person which is exactly what June did and what Cath will be doing…

So hopefully you won’t be too busy to Put On Your Sunday Best on 107.8FM, on the apps or online between 10am and 12 noon as usual this weekend to hear what Cath has to say about life in the fast lane these days!
