A crafty collection

a little bird told me 2It’s no secret that the Girls Around Town like shopping.

If they’re not doing it, they’re talking about it – and June for one has never been known to pass up the opportunity to check out a new shop in town…

So when A Little Bird Told Me Emporium opened last month, it wasn’t long before she dropped in to meet owner Louise Clark. And, just in case you’re wondering, she didn’t leave the shop empty-handed – no surprise there then!

Louise will be joining June and Sue on the show this weekend to talk about how her new venture is giving local crafters the chance to showcase and sell their work.

Almost all of the shabby chic arts and crafts on sale are hand-made and the shop also sells upcycled old furniture which has been given a new lease of life.

Twenty-five people are already involved with A Little Bird Told Me, some of whom will be passing their skills on to customers by running workshops on topics such as flower arranging and furniture painting. There’s also a small tea room at the back of the shop and a weekly pop-up nail bar offering vintage-style designs.

Join June, Sue and Louise between 10am and 12 noon on Sunday, on air or online, to find out more about how one local businesswoman is giving other small businesses a helping hand…

Managing the menopause

fiona theokritoffWith the menopause as this week’s hot topic, the Girls Around Town will be welcoming one of their favourite guests into the studio on Sunday.

If you’re a regular listener, you’ll recognise the name (and on the show, the voice!) of Fiona Theokritoff, a Newark-based homeopath and specialist in women’s health and wellbeing.

Between 10am and 12 noon, she’ll be joining June and Tina for the latest Fabulous After 40 feature, with plenty of hints and tips on how using homeopathic remedies can help with some of the issues women face as they approach and go through what can be a very trying time.

So, if you’re looking for practical steps to take to minimise those dreaded hot flushes, ideas for healthy eating or just a few words of advice to keep you stay sane, tune in or listen online on Sunday morning…

Whether you’re peripost or actually in the throes of it all right now, you’ll want to hear what Fiona has to say!!
