Murder on the menu in Tuxford

stephen boothIf you’re a fan of crime and murder fiction, here’s an opportunity to meet award-winning local author Stephen Booth in person…

He will be appearing at Storytellers Books, 7 Eldon Street, Tuxford on Saturday 17 January for a public book signing, which will be followed by a ticketed talk and Q&A session.

Described by The Sunday Telegraph as ‘one of Britain’s best storytellers’, Stephen has written 13 best-sellers which have been published worldwide in 15 different languages.

A newspaper and magazine journalist for over 25 years, his first published book Black Dog hit the shelves in 2000 and was named by the London Evening Standard as one of the six best crime novels of the year – the only one on their list by a British author.

community carols 3…To Newark Market Place, where you’ll find everything from carols and choirs to Santas and shopping on Sunday 14 December…

The festive fun begins at 10am, when local traders set out their wares for the Christmas Market. Bag a bargain or two, find fabulous gifts and treats for family and friends – and even have them wrapped in The Buttermarket.

community carols 1Then get right into the spirit of Christmas at 11am, as the Newark Town Band and local school choirs join forces for the Community Carol Concert. There’ll be plenty of opportunities for audience participation and the choir of Newark Business Club will be there too, singing their own unique version of The 12 Days of Christmas

No celebration of Christmas would be complete without Santa, of course. Or in this case lots of Santas, as local residents of all ages take part in the charity Santa Dash, racing around the Market Place to raise money for Beaumond House.

community carols 2The children’s dash starts at 12 noon, it’s ready, set, go for adults at 12.45pm and if you fancy taking part yourself, there’s still time to register – just follow this link, sign up and start fundraising.

And in case you need an extra incentive to join in the fun, it’s just been announced that parking in Tolney Lane car parks will be FREE on Sunday 14 December (and on Saturday 13, Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 December too)…
