Spilling the beans on a new festival for Newark

Rachel’s going to be in her element on next weekend’s show, when fellow vegan Shena Louise drops by to talk about a brand new event coming to Newark in a couple of months’ time!

Shena will be joining Rachel and June to spill the beans on the first ever Newark Vegan Festival which takes place in the stunning setting of The Ballroom at Newark Town Hall.

She’ll be looking back at the festival which took place in Lincoln today and looking ahead to what’s in store for visitors to the Newark festival between 10am and 4pm on Saturday 16 February

With everything from food and drink to talks and advice on offer, together with a little entertainment thrown in for good measure, there’ll be plenty to see and do – and no doubt plenty of tasty vegan treats to try and buy as well!

How to be frugal but still festive!

Mum of four Claire Lyons returns to Girls Around Town this weekend with more hints and tips on how to become a Frugal Family.

And this time, not surprisingly, it’s all about making sure you don’t end up breaking the bank during the festive season…

From letters to Santa to an Advent calendar with a twist and more, she’ll be sharing some of the ways you can follow in the footsteps of the Lyons family over Christmas.

Tune in or listen online between 10am and 12 noon on Sunday to find out too about the family’s resolutions for 2019 and some of the things Claire has in store for the online community whose members share her resolve to live a more ethical and frugal life.

Don’t worry though, she won’t be telling you that you can’t enjoy the celebrations! She’ll be explaining how her own family – and yours – can still have fun without being unnecessarily wasteful.

As she says on her website, it’s all about ‘living your dreams, within your means’…

Celebrating Christmas in Southwell

Tina’s back in the building – or at least she will be next weekend!

It’s only a flying visit, between 10am and 12 noon on Sunday, but she’ll have plenty of news to share when she sits down with June and Rachel in the studio once  more.

Not surprisingly, Christmas will be high on the agenda as she shares some of the festive highlights for Southwell and the surrounding villages. She’ll have details of the Late Night Shopping event on Thursday 29 November, together with how the town will be celebrating Small Biz Saturday on 1 December.
