On feet and festivals…

chocolate biscuitsAnother busy show today with six ‘girls around town’ in the studio, talking about everything from feet and festivals to bras and biscuits!!

Deborah Garlick, Nadine Cooper and Liz Hobbs joined June, Tina and Sue between 11am and 1pm – no time for photos this time, we were far too busy chatting. It seems we’ve all been eating our choccy bikkies the wrong way round – shock, horror! – and, purely in the interests of research of course, we had a packet on hand to hand to check it out.

pretty feetDeborah and Nadine came along to tell us all about their flourishing online community Henpicked – just five months old and around 2000 followers already! Feet were a hot topic as June, Sue and Deborah bared their soles (although not literally) talking about their recent use of gel-filled exfoliating socks – slightly gruesome, strangely satisfying but, from the look on her face, not something Tina will be rushing to try…

Unfortunately, the Henpicked pair conveniently forgot to bring along the special bras they’ll be donning next Saturday for the London MoonWalk, raising money for breast cancer sufferers. But we’ll be keeping an eye on their respective Facebook pages so watch this space for a pic or two next week; in the meantime, if you want to support their efforts by making a donation, click here for more details and a link to the Just Giving pages.

union jWith Newark Festival returning to Riverside Park next month, Liz had plenty to talk about too. Live concerts on Friday 20 and Saturday 21 June feature Union J, Rough Copy, Luke Friend, Loveable Rogue, Tich, Ollie Marland, Heaven 17, Marc Almond and The Human League; and on Sunday 22 June, there’s a fantastic FREE family fun day which culminates with Proms in the Park and a fabulous fireworks finale.

Check out the Festival website for times and ticket details. And, if you haven’t already done so, don’t forget to enter this week’s competition to win a pair of tickets for the Friday concert – you’ll find a reminder of the question here.

Vintage comes to Grantham

vintage fairLove the vintage look?

Here’s another date for your diary: Grantham’s first ever vintage fair, organised by Bea’s Boutique, takes place on Saturday 10 May.

With more than 30 stallholders selling vintage clothes, homeware, children’s new and pre-loved clothes and toys, shabby chic furniture, decoupaged gifts and other handmade items, Bea’s Vintage & Craft Fair is at the Jubilee Church Life Centre, from 10am to 4pm.

There’ll be live music and Emma Payne from The Vintage Head in Newark will be on hand too, transforming  ladies into 40s film stars, complete with Victory Roll hairdos, makeup and false lashes.

And while you’re there, why not take Tea with Bea in the pop up vintage tea room? Traditional cream teas, scrumptious Victoria sponge and other tempting treats, served up on vintage china – what’s not to like?!

Admission to the fair, at 5 London Road in Grantham (NG31 6EY for satnav users), is just 50p – for more details call 07888 679118.
