New year, new look – it’s easier than you think!

Thinking of updating your wardrobe for the New Year? Hold that thought – at least until you’ve heard what next week’s Girls Around Town guest has to say…

Before you hit the shops, you might want to follow the advice of personal stylist Hayley Eleanor Smith and take a closer look at some of the outfits you already own.

Are you making the most of what you’ve got? Could you be mixing, matching or accessorising things differently?

And, even worse, are you guilty of the cardinal clothing sin, with items tucked away in your wardrobe or drawers that you never, ever wear?

Tune in or listen online between 10am and 12 noon on Sunday, when Hayley joins Rosalyn and June in the studio to share some of her top styling tips.

From working with what you’ve got to how to shop the sales and more – take a leaf out of her book and you could find you’re ready to start the year with a whole new look.

And best of all, it doesn’t have to break the bank!

Grin and wear it!

We’ve all heard the saying ‘a picture paints a thousand words’ but what is the ‘picture’ you present of yourself saying about you?

Whether you’re dressing for work or getting ready to party, are you leaving home feeling great – or are you just not sure you’ve got it right?

With a corporate background as a matrimonial solicitor herself, personal stylist Hayley Eleanor Smith is passionate about helping busy working women solve their clothing and wardrobe dilemmas. And she’ll be joining the Girls Around Town next weekend to explain how developing your own style and image makes it easy to go to your wardrobe and put together the perfect outfit for every occasion.

“We’re all busy with work, family and other commitments – there’s enough stress in life without worrying about what to wear as well!” says Hayley. “Some women always seem to know what suits them and looks good. But others need a little help and guidance, to learn how to make the most of their natural attributes by putting together outfits that are comfortable, contemporary and functional for everyday life.”

Tune in or listen online between 10am and 12 noon next Sunday when she gives June and Sue an insight into the difference that identifying your personal style and understanding what works for you – and what doesn’t! – can make to that picture you present.

If you want to put an end to those ‘wardrobe wobbles’, to feel confident you’re getting it right, you’ll want to hear what Hayley has to say…

Top of the hat parade

You’ve heard the saying ‘If you want to get ahead, get a hat’, haven’t you? If only it were that easy…

Getting a hat is one thing but getting the RIGHT hat is a different matter altogether! Choosing the colour to match or complement your outfit might not be too difficult but that’s just the start. Does it suit the shape of your face – your hairstyle – or even your body shape?

If you need a bit of help here, you could go online and ask Google but be warned – you’ll get over 1.9 million results if you do! Or you could join the Girls Around Town and their guest Jenny Dickinson on Sunday morning, which rather appropriately just happens to be National Hat Day.

As a personal stylist based in Lincolnshire who’s worked as a product development technologist for two of the UK’s biggest and best-loved fashion retailers, Jenny knows all about matching people with outfits that flatter them. So who better to share a few pointers on how to make sure the hat you choose for that special occasion is the crowning glory you want it to be?

She’s even promised to bring along some of the hats she has available for hire so June, Tina and Sue can try them on for size. Tune in or listen online between 10am and 12 noon on Sunday to hear what Jenny has to say – and look out for pictures on Facebook to see how, in the words of top milliner Piers Atkinson,  a little bit of expert advice can help you to

Enjoy the hat, and make sure the hat doesn’t wear you; you wear the hat!
