Designer style without the designer price tag!

shopping bagsIf you’ve always wanted to own a designer dress, step out in style in a pair of super shoes or accessorise your outfits with a truly beautiful bag, now’s your chance to do it without breaking the bank…

Cast your mind back and you may remember that the Girls Around Town flagged up the Beaumond House Designer Clothing Sale both online and on air last year.

Since then we’ve been waiting patiently for confirmation of the dates and times. Well, get your diaries out girls – here they come!

With a Preview Evening on Wednesday 15 April and the main sale on Thursday 16 April, there’ll be plenty of opportunity to shop till you drop at the Newark Academy Lilley & Stone Site on London Road. Needless to say, June will be leading the charge – and no doubt fashionistas from across the region have been busy recently, making space in their wardrobes for a few fabulous treats.

Whether you’re looking for something special to wear to a summer wedding or a ball, planning a holiday or just want to indulge in a little retail therapy, we have it on good authority that there’ll be no shortage of high end outfits and accessories to choose from. What’s more, you’ll be supporting a very worthwhile local cause too – how’s that for a little extra incentive?!

ladies drinking wineTickets are on sale now for Wednesday’s preview, which runs from 6pm to 10pm with wine and canapés included in the £10 admission price. Entry to Thursday’s sale is free and you can shop till you drop from 10am to 9pm.

Don’t forget there’s still time to make room for those new purchases by donating items you’ve never worn or which no longer fit – clothing, shoes, handbags, accessories, even coat hangers and garment rails will all be much appreciated. Just take them to Beaumond House at 32 London Road and help them on their way towards matching – or even beating! – the £25,000 raised at the last designer sale.

For more information or to book your tickets for the Wednesday evening, contact the Fundraising Team on 01636 610556. Then form an orderly queue ladies and get ready to bag a bargain…

O come all ye faithful…

community carols 3…To Newark Market Place, where you’ll find everything from carols and choirs to Santas and shopping on Sunday 14 December…

The festive fun begins at 10am, when local traders set out their wares for the Christmas Market. Bag a bargain or two, find fabulous gifts and treats for family and friends – and even have them wrapped in The Buttermarket.

community carols 1Then get right into the spirit of Christmas at 11am, as the Newark Town Band and local school choirs join forces for the Community Carol Concert. There’ll be plenty of opportunities for audience participation and the choir of Newark Business Club will be there too, singing their own unique version of The 12 Days of Christmas

No celebration of Christmas would be complete without Santa, of course. Or in this case lots of Santas, as local residents of all ages take part in the charity Santa Dash, racing around the Market Place to raise money for Beaumond House.

community carols 2The children’s dash starts at 12 noon, it’s ready, set, go for adults at 12.45pm and if you fancy taking part yourself, there’s still time to register – just follow this link, sign up and start fundraising.

And in case you need an extra incentive to join in the fun, it’s just been announced that parking in Tolney Lane car parks will be FREE on Sunday 14 December (and on Saturday 13, Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 December too)…
