The (two) grand total

greaseLast Friday’s sing-along screening of Grease at Newark’s Palace Theatre was a huge success – a packed house, plenty of Pink Ladies, lots of singing along and even more dancing. There’s no doubt every member of the audience was having a ball!

And we’ve just found out that the event raised a whopping £2027.90 for Jo Lister’s Arctic Challenge in aid of Beaumond House Community Hospice.

Well done to everyone involved in the event and good luck to Jo, whose 120-kilometre trek across the Arctic is now just days away…

Tell us what you want to hear

headphonesIt won’t be long before the Girls Around Town are back on air – watch this space for dates and times as soon as they’re confirmed – and we’re already busy prepping the next four shows.

So far, we’ve pencilled in guests to talk about holidays, homeopathy and online communities; food and drink is sure to be on the menu somewhere; and we’re scouring the web and the press for thought-provoking topics to discuss.

But what do you want us to talk about? Who would you like us to invite into the studio? Leave your comment here or Get In Touch with your ideas and we’ll do our best to include as many as we can!

Our favourite things…2

v2v marilyn dressHere’s another one of our favourite places owned by John and Siouxsie, two more of our favourite people.

Hardly a week goes by without one of us dropping into Vintage2Versace to check out the latest stock in this treasure trove of beautiful things – June being the biggest culprit of course, it’s handbag heaven! Not to mention the hats, shoes, jewellery and the most extensive collection of vintage and couture clothing outside London…

And with coffee and cakes as tempting (well, almost!) as the goodies in the shop itself, The Secret Garden Café is a great place for a break from shopping or a quick catch-up with friends. What’s not to like?!

It’s also the venue for regular events and next month there’s a chance to celebrate Valentine’s Day in style in an evening which combines poetry and fashion.

From 7.30pm to 9.30pm on Friday 14 February there’ll be love poetry composed and read by Fiona Theokritoff and Deborah Tyler-Bennett as well as classic works read by John Knight, followed by a fashion parade of beautiful ballgowns and desirable dresses.

Wine and canapés will be served throughout the evening and tickets are on sale now, priced £15 each or £25 for two. Visit the shop at 6 Stodman Street, email admin@vintage2versace.co.uk or call 01636 676999 for more details and bookings.
