An exclusive invitation to shop!

We don’t know many ‘girls around town’ out there who need an excuse to shop but how’s this for a little encouragement?

gracegentle new interiorOn Wednesday 19 March, from 6pm to 9pm, Denise Starkey is hosting an exclusive shopping evening at Gracegentle, 25a Castlegate in Newark. Enjoy a glass of fizz, browse for beautiful gifts and support a local charity while you do so – how can you possibly say no?!

There’ll be greetings cards by Caroline Greene on sale too, as well as a free gift bag for everyone who attends.

Both Denise and Caroline will be donating a percentage of sales on the evening to Newark Women’s Aid and the proceeds of a raffle will also be donated to this very worthy cause.

With Mothering Sunday on 30 March, the timing couldn’t be better – treat your mum (and yourself!) to something gorgeous from Gracegentle and enjoy a fun night out too…

And as an extra treat – why not take advantage of a special two-for-one offer at Danube Restaurant, 25 Castlegate? Valid only on the evening of Wednesday 19 March – places are limited so book in advance on 01636 610661.

Our favourite things…3

GracegentleIf you’re looking for lovely things for your home, your friends or yourself, Gracegentle in Newark is a real find!

This pretty little shop is packed with gorgeous home and giftware for you to adorn and adore – I’m definitely loving the Dansk Smykkekunst bracelet that was nestling among my presents on Christmas Day…

gracegentle braceletIf you’re reading this in early January and want to be in with a chance to win this red leather and silver bracelet from the same range, all you need to do is enter the Gracegentle competition on Facebook.

Just ‘like’ their page and share the post about their Valentine competition – the closing date is Friday 17 January so head over to Facebook now!

But if not, you can always shop their collection online at gracegentle.co.uk or better yet, drop by 25a Castlegate and browse among the goodies on offer – they’re open from 10am to 4pm Tuesday to Saturday (Sunday opening resumes in the spring).

I guarantee you won’t come away empty-handed!!

Our favourite things…2

v2v marilyn dressHere’s another one of our favourite places owned by John and Siouxsie, two more of our favourite people.

Hardly a week goes by without one of us dropping into Vintage2Versace to check out the latest stock in this treasure trove of beautiful things – June being the biggest culprit of course, it’s handbag heaven! Not to mention the hats, shoes, jewellery and the most extensive collection of vintage and couture clothing outside London…

And with coffee and cakes as tempting (well, almost!) as the goodies in the shop itself, The Secret Garden Café is a great place for a break from shopping or a quick catch-up with friends. What’s not to like?!

It’s also the venue for regular events and next month there’s a chance to celebrate Valentine’s Day in style in an evening which combines poetry and fashion.

From 7.30pm to 9.30pm on Friday 14 February there’ll be love poetry composed and read by Fiona Theokritoff and Deborah Tyler-Bennett as well as classic works read by John Knight, followed by a fashion parade of beautiful ballgowns and desirable dresses.

Wine and canapés will be served throughout the evening and tickets are on sale now, priced £15 each or £25 for two. Visit the shop at 6 Stodman Street, email admin@vintage2versace.co.uk or call 01636 676999 for more details and bookings.
